In cooperation with the Ugra/FOGRA research institute, TECHKON presents a comprehensive color measurement system for quality assurance in newspaper printing. This system features an innovative measurement technology consisting of the TECHKON MTC 920 (MiniTarget Camera), MTC Pro software and the Ugra/FOGRA MiniTarget. The handheld MTC 920 (MiniTarget Camera) is positioned on the MiniTarget. The optical viewfinder located on top of the instrument allows for easy and exact positioning. Using state-of-the-art technology, a high resolution digital camera captures a picture of the MiniTarget.

The TECHKON MTC Pro software for Windows analyzes the MiniTarget. Through proprietary algorithms, the following parameters are calculated and displayed in comparison to individually programmed standards: density and density difference, dot gain @ 50%, printing contrast, gray balance, trapping, slur/ doubling, colorimetric data and registration. An optionally available database module based on MS ACCESS, allows statistical evaluation and quality analyses through the entire press run.

The Ugra/FOGRA MiniTarget features 12 individual measurement patches, as well as other quality parameters important to newspaper printing. These parameters include solid density, dot gain, trapping, slur/doubling, colorimetric data and register control. The small dimension of the MiniTarget, 10 x 7 mm, allows it to be easily hidden within the printed image. The target can be downloaded free of charge from the Internet at www.ugra.ch.

The fast measurement speed, easy handling and clear data display make the MTC system a indispensable tool for quality control.

The included SP 810 Spectrophotometer is used for basic calibration.
